A member of India’s ruling BJP party insists a daily dose of cow urine is keeping her safe from coronavirus – and she’s not the only politician swigging the bovine nectar to ward off Covid.
Pragya Singh Thakur represents Madhya Pradesh, one of India’s worst-hit states, and was criticized for going AWOL amidst recent waves that saw up to 13,000 daily cases in the region.
A colleague of Thakur also suggested drinking cow urine – at least diluted with water – to “reduce infections in lungs”, despite India’s top medical chief flushing those claims.
“There is no concrete scientific evidence that cow dung or urine work to boost immunity against Covid-19, it is based entirely on belief.”
A cup of belief keeps the ‘rona at bay?
