IPOH | More flood victims in Taiping were allowed to return home as of 5pm today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said water levels had receded, with one relief centre now closed as of 11am today.
“A total of 87 victims are seeking shelter at Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRAR) Ngah Ibrahim Al Baraqah, compared to 102 victims this morning.
“A total of 15 flood victims who were seeking shelter at the Sungai Baru Community Hall relief centre were allowed to return home. The centre was closed at 11am,” he said. The spokesperson said three villages; Kampung Sungai Rentaka, Kampung Changkat Baru and Kampung Jebong Kiri were still inundated with floodwaters.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement yesterday said heavy rain was expected today and Friday in Kedah, Penang and Perak.
In Perak, the affected areas are Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama and Manjung. SOURCES: NST
